Underground Restoration Posse Fixes Paris Clock

Dear Readers,

Before we opened the Blanton's new building to the public and I would give private tours without fail someone would mention the Thomas Crown Affair. Now, I have to say that I have an averson to ever comparing real life to movies. Real life is better is better and more surprising than movies (or maybe my life is better), and when I read this article in the Guardian today my feelings were

A group of Parisian cultural guerrillas have been holding underground parties in viaducts, staging secret rock concerts in national monuments, and restoring cultural landmarks under the nose of those officials who are supposed to protect them. Very Club Dumas. Very awesome.

Matt Rebholtz @ Slugfest

Dear Readers,

Everybody's best friend Matt Rebholz has a show opening this weekend of his print series featuring the Golem of Jewish myth. Rebholz updates the myth, making the Golem a poor everyman made to endure the slings and arrows of contemporary culture. Go check it out at Slugfest when you're doing the East Gallery tour this weekend!

Mercosur Biennial

Dear Readers,

The following is a dispatch from Latin American Curator Ursula Davila-Villa. She trots the globe looking for awesome things!!

Dear Readers,

I just came back from Brazil where I was attending an international symposium on art and education organized by Luis Camnitzer on the event of the 6th Mercosur Biennial, which Gabriel curated and is the reason why he has been in Brazil for the last year.
I would like to congratulate Gabriel on this great accomplishment. The show looks spectacular, the pedagogical program not only is innovative but it has reached beyond any body's expectations. It was great to see how many people were enjoying contemporary art and engaged with the projects and the artists text (such as Waltercio Caldas' beautiful text in the image below). I am attaching some images that I took of the show and some of the pedagogical stations, where visitors can seat and read a text from the artist that discuss the work on view and can write their own interpretations for other to read.
Again, congratulations Gabriel.
